Here are some things you need to consider when choosing a plan.
How Far Will It Tow?
In an ideal world, any breakdown would be easily solved on the side of the road, getting you back to your travels worry-free in little time. The reality is that there are some roadside emergencies and breakdowns that just cannot be fixed on the side of the road. It is likely that you'll have to have your RV towed to a garage at some point.
That makes it important to understand the towing coverage offered as part of any roadside assistance plan. You need to know how many miles you are provided as part of the coverage, and whether or not you can pay for additional miles if needed. You also need to know if that towing coverage only allows you to be towed to a garage of their choosing, the nearest garage only, or one of your selection.
How Many Claims Can You File?
Some roadside assistance plans will only provide coverage for a certain number of claims each year. If you exceed that number of service calls, you either cannot call for any more or you are charged a fee for each subsequent one.

Know What Services Are Paid For
You also need to be sure that you adequately understand what the roadside service will, and will not, pay for. In some cases, they will cover a certain amount of gas if you run out, changing a tire to a spare, patching a punctured tire, and even lockout or jumpstart fees.
However, they will not typically cover the cost of a replacement tire if one is required, nor the cost of replacing your keys if you lost them. You'll also be expected to pay for your gas beyond the few gallons they provide to get you to a gas station. It is important that you know exactly what is covered so that you know what your responsibilities are in a breakdown.
